As a celebrated Spring Break destination, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, seems to get all the love. But there are loads of beaches dotted around the sunny south that deserve high fives for fun, sun and surf.
1. Virginia Beach, Virginia
Virginia Beach offers the longest pleasure beach in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. There’s no shortage of fun things to do, even when drinking is not your cup of tea. Spring breakers can surf, hike, play arcade games on the boardwalk, listen to live music, kayak, watch dolphins play, and more, all within a short distance of the many hotels and motels that line the seaside.
2. Smathers Beach, Key West, Florida
Key West is the home of the southernmost point of the U.S. This beautiful spot was part time home to Ernest Hemingway, and is current part time home to Jimmy Buffett. As you can imagine, it has plenty of watering holes that kept thirst at bay for the literary genius as well as modern day songsters like Buffett. For Spring Breakers, Smathers Beach offers postcard vistas, parasailing, jet skiing and sunbathing in a carefree and party town atmosphere.
